PUBLIC OPINION SURVEY SHOWS 71% SUPPORT FOR FRESNO'S RETAIL DISTRIBUTION AND WAREHOUSING
A recent public opinion survey showed overwhelming support for the city’s retail distribution and warehousing business sector.
The survey, which is representative of the voting electorate across all seven council districts, interviewed more than 400 registered voters and measured general attitudes toward California and the city of Fresno, top priorities for residents, and their perspective on retail distribution and warehousing.
Below is a recap of the survey’s key findings:
71% of total respondents consider the retail distribution and warehousing to be a net positive for the local community
39% of supporters state jobs & wages as top reason for support
The South Central Specific Plan area, home to more than 440 businesses and directly provides approximately 22,070 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs and creates nearly 48,000 FTE jobs citywide (25% of the City’s FTE employment).
Regardless of where respondents live, support for retail distribution & warehousing remains high
Residents recognize impact retail distribution has on economy
In 2022, the South Central Fresno Specific Plan area, which represents 7.5% of the city’s total land, generated more than:
$13 billion in economic activity
(35% of city’s total economic output)
$102 million in tax revenue
(21% of city’s general fund)
Cost of living is the top issue, followed by homelessness, and jobs & the economy
49% of those surveyed say the City of Fresno is on the wrong track, with just 31% stating the city is headed in the right direction.
Similarly, 57% of voters believe California has gotten off on the wrong track, compared to only 30% who feel the state is headed in the right direction.
